Shopping at the Satellite Market
The Satellite Market is a one-stop shop for souvenir items. It offers a wide selection of pasalubong such as abaca native bags, home decors, decorative boxes made of handmade paper, abaca rugs, household items made of indigenous materials, souvenir shirts and key chains, pili nut confections and many others. It is located at Tahao Road Right across the Legazpi City Terminal and the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation. To get there, take the jeepney marked Tahao Road.

Albay Pasalubong Center
Located at the Albay Astrodome compound, this shop contains a collection of the local items manufactured by several Albay producers. Among the things sold here are native handbags, baskets, household and decorative items, Tiwi’s ceramic wares and Tabaco’s cutlery items such as grass cutters, bolo’s and knives. Food items include pili nut confections, canned pinangat and bicol express and a native delicacy, kuyog. Sweet pineapple wines, honey and virgin coconut oil are also available.

Pasalubong shopping at Cagawa Ruins
Right outside the ruins is a chain of souvenir shops offering various pasalubong items. Like all the others, this shopping hub offers locally produced products from bags, ceramics, cutleries and delectable goodies. Furniture items like wicker chairs, sala and dining sets and other unique pieces are also available. To get there, ride a jeepney heading to Daraga and marked with any of the following Malabog, Guinobatan, Camalig. Ask the driver to let you off at Cagsawa ruins. Fare is P10.00/person. From the junction, you can either take a tricycle (P5/person) or walk 500 meters to the site. If you have your own car, you drive west of Legazpi City.

Handmade Paper Factory in Sto. Domingo
The home of Mrs. Barrios is a workshop of colorful art posters, greeting cards, poster frames and decorative boxes in whimsical shapes all made with abaca pulp and other local materials. All their products are for export. But the surpluses are for sale. They have product samples for buyers. You can even have your boxes customized for a minimum order of 100 pieces. To get to Mrs. Barrios, you will have to go to the Legazpi City Terminal at Tahao Road and hop in the van going to Sto. Domingo which is about 11 kilometers from there. Fare is P20.00/person. Get off at the Municipal Hall located right across the St. Dominic De Guzman Church.

Philippine Ceramics at Putsan, Tiwi
The red and dark clay soil in Brgy Putsan makes for a perfect element for stoneware potteries in terra cotta or glazed finish. From clay cooking pots the potters have added new designs like ceramic chimes, candleholders, decorative jars and others. This is also a good stop for souvenir shopping. Brgy Putsan is about 4 kms from Tiwi poblacion and is accessible by tricycle at P 8.00/person or P40.00 for special trip.

Pinangat and Bicol Express in Camalig
Pinangat and Bicol Express are popular Bicolano dishes which both uses gata or coconut milk, a staple ingredient of the local cuisine. Pinangat is made of shredded young gabi or taro leaves, shrimps, pork and ginger, wrapped in whole taro leaf and cooked in coconut milk until done. Another version of this is the tinilmok, whose filling is sliced lukadon (young coconut meat) and small shrimps. The Bicol express is a fiery dish made of sili (chili) with pork and cooked in gata. The town of Camalig is a known maker and exporter of these native delicacies and it is also where you can find a chain of Pinangat and Bicol express stores along the national road. These delicacies are available in can, bottle or just frozen.

Longganisa de Guinobatan
Longganisa (sausages) of Guinobatan has a distinctive taste, a little sour and salty. Dipped in vinegar or any condiment of choice, it is best served for breakfast but it’s just as good to eat on any mealtime. It also comes very cheap for P3.00 or P3.50 per piece. It can be bought in the Guinobatan market, very accessible by jeepney.



 


Pulutan Philippines Cuisine

Pulutan (from the Filipino word pulutin which literally means "something that is picked up") is a term roughly analogous to the English term "finger food". Originally, it was a snack accompanied with liquor or beer but has found its way into Philippine cuisine as appetizers or, in some cases, main dishes, as in the case of sisig.
